So as of now, March 4, this coming Tuesday marks Day 1 of my journey.
I am scared, I won’t lie. This is daunting.
And maybe it’s a terrible idea, given the current state of my life, with all of its stressors and challenges and demands on my levels of dopamine.
But I’ve made a decision…and that is to give myself a “participation trophy” no matter what happens.
Patricipation trophies are often seen as a punchline, something to not be proud of.
But to me, a participation trophy is one of the most powerful awards anyone can receive, because this trophy is indestructible. Nobody can ever deny you the distinction of participation.
The winner’s trophy, on the other hand, is subject to shattering at any time. In fact, it’s guaranteed to shatter at some point.
And that’s OK too, because you know which trophy will be there waiting for me, ALWAYS?
The Almighty Participation Trophy.
An indestructible source of the boundless energy that comes with accepting yourself fully, trusting in your own “north star” of what feels good. “Feels good” in the sense of joy, and peace, and love, and excitement.
As you put your focus on those feelings, you don’t have to worry about “winning” or “doing the right thing” because this north star as well as veering away from your north star, will guide you to the very best version of you, and your participation trophy, the biggest and baddest and shiniest symbol of true victory, will remain on your mantle, shining bright as ever.
In fact, no matter what your “north star” is, even if it’s a lust for power or selfish hedonism, guess what? Your Participation Trophy is still there….NO MATTER WHAT.
As they say in Texas…“COME TAKE IT.”
